There is Likely to Be No Satellite Voting in Marion County in 2010

In the 2008 General Election nearly 40,000 Marion County voters cast their ballots early at satellite voting sites.  Many voters took advantage of this convenience in 2009 as well.  Unfortunately it looks like satellite voting will not take place in the 2010 General Election as the one Republican member of the Election Board, attorney P. J. Dietrick, has consistently voted against it.  The 3-member board must appove it unanimously for satellite voting to take place.  As a result early voting in Marion County in the 2010 General Election will only be allowed to take place at the Clerk’s Office in the City-County Building downtown from October 4 until noon on November 1.  An online petition that GIfC strongly supports has been created to express voter dissatisfaction with this decision to limit ballot access.
